In 2010, legislation was passed to develop the Colorado All Payer Claims Database (CO APCD), the state’s most comprehensive source of health care claims information. The goal of the CO APCD is to inform and advance the “Triple Aim” goals of better health, better care and lower costs by providing comprehensive, transparent information about health care prices, spending and utilization. The APCD is a tool for empowering decision-making by providers, policy-makers, purchasers, patients, researchers and others and is a gateway to transparency that is necessary to inform opportunities for positive change.
CO APCD data is available publicly through the APCD website, www.comedprice.org. In addition, HIPAA-compliant custom data and reports are available through the Data Release Review Process to inform and support Triple Aim projects in Colorado. This website highlights some the ways organizations are using APCD data to inform their health care improvement work in Colorado.
